Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
- Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
- Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

A&E / 999
Whatever the day or time, if you or someone else experiences severe chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones, go to your nearest accident and emergency or call 112 (the new European-wide emergency number) or 999.
Accident and emergency departments are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provide immediate emergency care for people who show the symptoms of serious illness or are badly injured.
Please do not attend A&E for minor illnesses or minor injuries which can be treated somewhere else such as the surgery (or the Out-of-Hours doctors when we are closed), a minor injuries unit or a walk-in centre. Some can be treated by your local pharmacist or even by yourself with basic self-care, first aid and advice. If you don’t know what to do or who to contact please call 111.
Minor Injuries Units can treat less serious injuries and illnesses (i.e. sprains, cuts, stings, muscle or joint injuries, etc). The units can also do x-rays.

There are many other local NHS services you can contact if you need health advice, information or treatment, as well as our practice.
You can treat yourself for many minor ailments such as colds, coughs and indigestion by keeping a well-stocked medicine cabinet at home. Ask your local pharmacist for advice.
You can join the ‘Pharmacy First’ scheme which is run by the local pharmacies in conjunction with NHS Leeds. Please ask your pharmacist for details. Your local pharmacist will be able to give you free health advice at any time – you do not need an appointment. Many pharmacies operate extended hours on a rota basis.
Some medical services are not covered by the NHS, for example: insurance reports, reports for solicitors, private sicknotes, medicals for HGV or taxi licences, among others. For these services we have a schedule of fees.
Appointments are available if you would like to lose weight and adopt a healthier, more active lifestyle.
If you are going abroad and require travel advice including vaccinations, please ask for an appointment with your nurse. In order for us to ensure that you complete your vaccination course before you travel, please make your appointment at least six weeks in advance.
There may be a charge for certain vaccinations or certificates required for entry to specified countries. More information can be found on the Health Information page.
Our nursing team lead these clinics. They offer advice and general health check-ups to patients diagnosed with long term health problems, including diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive airways disease and ischaemic heart disease.
